Does Camp Tluda honor refunds?

Unfortunately, because a lot of the overhead cost is funded based on the number of registration and early planning, we can’t give refunds. However, if there are extreme circumstances please reach out to the Camp Director. Note, refunds may often come out of pocket from Camp Tluda so we need to be financially mindful. This information is also included in the Camp Newsletter.

How serious is wearing apparel all weekend?

Very. Many campers take the spirit seriously with bottoms, tops and head gear. However the only requirement is to wear a shirt/sweatshirt that is branded Camp Tluda. Exceptions include rain jackets when raining and heavy coats for the evening on top of your camp apparel.

I’m new, I only have this year’s current shirt - what should I do?

This was the case in 2011 and 2012 - it’s camping! We are meant to be in the woods and smell of campfire and friendship. You have the option to purchase additional apparel (long sleeves, previous year’s t-shirts, hoodies, etc), or rock your current year shirt the entire weekend. We promise, it’s been done many times, and you will be welcomed with open hugs.

I’m thinking about being a counselor, how much work is involved?

It is work, but it’s fun work! A lot of time and effort goes into making camp a special place, so if you're up for sharing the load, join the team! You will be expected to attend 2-3 counselor meetings, be on top of email and communication with both the director and your cabin. You will be on point during the weekend for questions from your campers, as well as help herd your cabin for games and group activities. See the Newsletter for additional details.

That is a lot of work! What’s in it for me?

It’s not for the money (it’s voluntary) but all counselors do get a Camp Tluda Coach’s jacket! If you’ve been a counselor before, you get to select any (1) item from the camp store. That being aside, most counselors take pride in helping behind the scenes to put this weekend together, enjoy planning and unity, and just find it fun to help make the weekend special for their cabin.

Camp is special because it's a getaway experience, much like going to camp as a kid. Because of that, we stick with the theme of not coming and going. The idea is to be here with other campers all weekend. With all the planning involved, we require all folks to be a paid registered member for a smooth and cohesive weekend!

I can’t come to camp this year, can I just swing by for a visit?

Are dogs allowed?

Camp Tluda will be a pet-free establishment. We love your furry friends, but unfortunately they’ll have to stay home this weekend.

How are cabins assigned?

Each cabin has a twin bunk on top of a double bunk, and a double futon. In addition, campers will often pitch tents on the “lawn” of the cabin. We take into consideration who folks are willing to share a bed with (not just couples, but also size and familiarity of your bunk mate), tent space, counselor distribution, and so much more.

How do meals work?

Your counselor will help guide and organize your cabin meals with you:

  • Cabin Meal: prepared by cabin members for cabin members. The (3) meals will be assigned to various members to prepare for the whole cabin.

  • Group Meal: each of the (5) cabins will pick a part of the meal and make enough for the entire camp and bring to the amphitheater. This will be assigned to the counselor. We will come together and have one group meal together before skit night.

  • Counselor Breakfast: funded by Camp Tluda, prepared by all the counselors. A tradition for over a decade

  • Leftovers: in order to decrease waste, we ask cabins to not prepare meals for the remainder of Sunday, but to gather ingredients and enjoy creative leftover cooking!

  • Sultan Bakery: every camper who stays until Monday will be treated by the Camp Director to breakfast at Sultan bakery where we will share our most favorite memory from the weekend.

I hate camping - are there showers and stuff?

While it is camping because you are in the woods with no WiFi (note that cell reception is very spotty so plan to unplug!) Wallace Falls State Park does have bathrooms with running toilets, hot showers, doors and windows in the cabins as well as outlets.

Do I need to be a heavy drinker?

Not at all! We’ve had campers who don’t drink or can’t drink join in on the fun - you can always substitute a bubbly for flip cup or drinking game! There may be some light peer pressure, but just say “the Camp Director said I didn’t have to” and you are free. Only request is to be kind.

Not at all! Some participation is encouraged as many join camp to make new friends and build relationships. In addition, some cabin competitions require all members of a cabin or partners so your cabin may need you for these scenarios. Don’t worry, there is plenty of open recreational time and many campers enjoy naps throughout the weekend.

What if I just want to read a book and chill, am I expected to do all the activities?
